Introduction
to Knitting/Knit 101 - How to Knit Cool Stuff Without
Quitting” If you have no knitting experience,
or have tried a few times but quit because that scarf was just
taking too darn long and you got bored, then this is the class
for you! This class will teach you the basics of casting
on, knitting and purling. Together we will create something
small, manageable and fabulous. Not only will you leave with
a finished project, but you’ll have the motivation and
the tools to keep on knitting! |

102 - After Knits & Purls: The Next Step for Beginners -
This series will help you do more with your knits and
purls. Participants will learn the techniques needed to increase,
decrease and seam. Each participant will select their own project
from a few suggested by the instructor that include those techniques.
You can also use his class to start a real knitting adventure. |
Knit Workshop - Are
you ready to move to the next level with your knitting, but
don't want to venture alone? This class will guide you through
pattern or chart reading, knitting in the round, or whatever
is tripping you up. Participants will select their own projects
and each class will begin with a few general tips. Participants
should be familiar with knits, purls, and increasing in decreasing.
This is a great class to work on new cast-ons too! |
Baby Knits for Beginners
and New Knitters - This is a great class for beginners
and new knitters who want to create the perfect baby gift. Using
Debbie Bliss’ Beginner Knits for Baby you will cover the
basics with encouragement to try a cable to add some challenge
for those who know how to knit and purl. Casting on, binding
off, increasing, decreasing, knitting and purling will be covered
in this class. |
Bill's Bootie Workshop
Bill - is our in-house baby bootie expert. We've designed three
2-week workshops, each session increasing the difficulty of
the booty design. Participants should expect to complete the
bootie pair in each session. |
Cool Socks for Beginners
and New Knitters – - For new knitters or a brave
beginner making a pair of socks is a great challenge and awesome
skill once achieved! Join this class to get motivation to get
through the twists and turns of a very cool knit sock.

Beginning Sock Workshop
- Some people just love making socks - come find
out why! In our one-day workshop, we'll take you from start
to finish to make squooshy, comfy, lounge-around-the-house socks.
Participants will (hopefully!) finish the first sock during
the workshop, and fast knitters will get started on the second
one. The pattern takes you step-by-step through a ribbed sock
from the cuff down, on double-pointed needles. This class is
for advanced beginners - some experience on DPNs is helpful. |
Socks and Stockings
- For new and long-time knitters, making a pair of
socks is a great challenge and awesome skill once achieved!
Join this class for motivation to get through the twists and
turns of a very cool knit sock. Soon you’ll have warm
feet on chilly nights or a festive stocking in time for the
holidays! Should know cast-on, knit, and purl. |
Knit Pattern Modifications
and Design - Ever wonder why Debbie Bliss has a fiber
empire, when you're the one modifying all her patterns?
Or why Wenlan Chin's patterns only go up to size 33" chest?
Discover the joys, sorrows, and great mysteries of hand knitting
patterns by writing your own! Take those modifications
to a whole new level, and learn the ins and outs of math, sizing,
and explaining those brilliant techniques you invented to someone
else. Two sessions over two weeks, including test knitting
and proofreading! Feel free to come with no particular
project in mind, but students are encouraged to bring an item
they created without someone else's pattern, or a modified finished
object or difficult pattern as a starting point for discussion. |
Beaded Spiral Hat
- This close-fitting knit cap adds a bit of sparkle with elegant
glass seed beads worked into the spiral design using the crochet
hook method of beading. This 2-session class will teach a modified
version of the popular "Odessa" pattern by Grumperina
(a free download at www.ravelry.com). This is a great project
for beginners who want to learn knitting in the round, or for
experienced needle crafters looking to jazz up their hat-making
skills. Come in to Stitch House to see the shop model! |
Beaded Shawl Workshop –
- This one-day workshop will teach you how to incorporate
beads into your knitting to add a little extra glamour! Make
your very own beaded shawl using a simple 4-row repeat that
produces a beautiful accent piece to add to your wardrobe. Come
by the shop to check out the sample today! |
Beaded Scarf Workshop - This
two-day morning workshop will teach you how to incorporate beads
into your knitting to add a little extra glamour! Make your
very own fancy scarf using the pre-strung bead technique and
a simple stitch to produce a beautiful accent piece to add to
your wardrobe. |
Beginning Cables: The Cabled Bag - The
cabled bags on display at Stitch House have been the subject
of much discussion, and now you can learn to make your very
own! Some knitting experience is required, but novice cablers
are welcome. |
Irish Knits! - This series
will help you do more with your talents. You know you can do
it – now accept this challenge. Participants will learn
the true art of the Irish Knit cable. Each participant will
select their own project from a few suggested by the instructor
to make a sweater for an adult, toddler or baby or a beautiful
blanket. Participants should be confident in their ability
to knit and read complex patterns. Learn the best way
to cast on or rib based on your project, or even how to get
away with the least amount of sewing in the end. |
The Great American Aran Afghan –
- Accept the challenge and start knitting your own
masterpiece to snuggle under. The 24 squares range from easy
to difficult and take you through all the twists of cable knitting.
Create a masterpiece in traditional ivory or change things up
with bold color. Supplies and simple start required before first
class. |
Cables Untangled! - This
series will help you do more with your talents. You know you
can do it – now accept this challenge. Using the book
“Cables Untangled” you will select and knit a beautiful
project involving as many cables as you would like. Participants
should be confident in their ability to knit and read patterns.
Learn the best way to cast on or rib based on your project,
or even how to get away with the least amount of seaming when
finishing. |
Color Knitting Workshop !! - For
those comfortable with the knit and purl, looking to add a little
spice and color to their projects. This 3 week workshop will
teach you some of the most popular colorwork techniques, including
intarsia, duplicate stitch, and fair-isle, to make multi-colored
sample swatches. There will be a special focus on reading charts,
understanding basic color theory, and charting your own designs. |
Fair Isle Noro Hat - Katie is
back to teaching colorwork – and this is a fun and useful
way of doing it! Make a very cool, fair isle hat using Noro
yarn contrasted by a dark solid contrast. The effect is stunning
– you can check out Katie’s samples in the shop
or visit her blog. |
Advanced Knit - Now that you
have conquered the basics and can complete a simple knit pattern
it’s time to challenge yourself! With the assistance of
the instructor select a great project to boost your skills as
a knitter. |
Finishing Studio - Having a
hard time finishing that beautiful sweater that sits in pieces
in your project bag? Or want to create a beautiful felted flower
to add to that very cool bag or cap? Join us for a one-day workshop
and get done with it! |
Drop-Spindle Spinning - Ever
wondered how to go from sheep to scarf? Come to Stitch House
this winter to learn the basics of drop-spindle spinning –
fiber preparation, pre-drafting, spinning, and plying –
to make your own handspun! Learn how to make lopi, 2-ply, thick-and-thin,
and novelty yarns on your own. |
Drop-in Help – - If you
can’t make one of our fabulous classes or workshops, join
us when you can. Learn to knit or get help with a tricky part
of your current project. Drop ins cost $10 per hour and may

Crochet 101 - For those who
have a fear of using two needles we have a class for you - CROCHET!
For four weeks you will work on a variety of crochet stitches-
basic to the most detailed you can handle. The first class uses
shop yarn to practice the foundation stitches for crochet. |

| Introduction to Sewing -
“Learn to Dress Yourself -This four week class
will give you experience in the basics of sewing so that you
will have the knowledge and confidence to undertake projects
on your own. You will learn how to understand and follow pattern
instructions, cut out patterns and make minor pattern alterations
for a better fit. In addition you will learn clothing
construction fundamentals such as seams, darts, waistbands,
zippers, buttonholes and hem techniques. |
Saturday Sew Intensive for Beginners
and New Sewers –- So you want to learn to sew
or continue developing your skills? Pick your own project and
get started. You will learn how to read and follow pattern instructions,
cut out patterns and make minor pattern alterations for a better
fit. We start sewing the first week so come with a pattern and
fabric ready to go. |
Sewing Workshop - Pick your
own project and push your creative limits! This four-week class
is organized in a workshop model for beginners and new sewers.
Participants can select their own patterns and fabrics (should
be graded “easy” or “beginner”). The
instructor will work with you to help you read and follow pattern
instructions, cut out patterns and make minor pattern alterations
for a better fit. You will be encouraged to be creative and
make a very unique garment. |
Introduction to Sewing: Butler Bags -
Amy Butler is the designer of beautiful fabrics and
patterns. Using her patterns and fabrics in just two sessions
you’ll have a great new tote or bag to show off to all
your friends! This class will give you experience in the basics
of sewing so that you will have the knowledge and confidence
to undertake projects on your own. You will learn how to understand
and follow pattern instructions. All materials for this class
are available at Stitch House. |
Children’s Clothing - This
introductory sewing class will teach you the basics of machine
sewing while making clothes for your kids! Pick your own pattern
and cool fabric and get ready to start saving money. We recommend
easy or beginner graded patterns and fun cotton prints. This
is a great beginner class for those with young kids and a tight
budget. Pattern recommendations listed on class description.

Alterations - Do you have a
closet full of "off the rack" clothes that need to
be hemmed or a pair of favorite pants that need a zipper replaced?
Bring your jeans, jackets, dresses and skirts and learn to do
your own alterations. You will also learn to do perfect hand
and machine stitches on your delicate fabrics. Some sewing experience
is necessary. |
Restore a Jacket - Do you have
an old winter jacket that isn’t what it used to be, or
a thrift store find you know could become a coat others envy?
Jen Paulousky’s class is for you. Stop by Stitch House
to see the jacket she recreated into a one-of-a-kind work of
wearable art. Class will include full re-lining and resizing,
with tangential tips on updating older styles. |
Gypsy Skirts for Beginners - During
this two week introductory class you will make a gypsy style
skirt in a lightweight, washable fabric of your choice. You
will learn to make your own pattern, practice basic machine
sewing skills and complete a custom garment! |
The Great Sweater Cut Up! A One Time
Experience - Collect all your old, dull and out-dated
sweaters and recreate them into a wonderful new garment. In
a one-time Saturday afternoon workshop you’ll learn to
stretch your imagination into a beautiful new sweater. This
class is for guys and dolls! |
Last Minute Sew Class –
-Ttake this class if you need help wrapping up a project you
started with us or on your own. Work with our instructor to
insert that zipper, buttonhole, hem or just get reacquainted
with your put away sewing project. Or, use this time to
start a more complicated project and get expert guidance from
a fabulous teacher. |
| Pattern Making –-
Take your sewing skills one step further with a pattern making
class with this 6 week class. Create a perfect fit sloper for
you! This course will teach you the technical side of garment
construction with a particular focus on measurement and fit.
You will further develop your sewing skills and learn critical
concepts of clothing construction and design with Casey. |
| Quilting and Sewn Crafting |
Basic Quiltmaking - This
introductory class will teach basic quick and easy quiltmaking
techniques for beginners. Using rotary cutting and machine
sewing you will create a quilt top suitable for a baby, lap
or to hang on the wall. You will also learn how to baste
the three layers of a quilt together, hand quilt it, and how
to bind the edges. |
Scrap Quilt – - Have you
ever wanted to make an heirloom quilt for friends (or yourself!)?
In this four-week class, learn how to turn those leftover pieces
of beautiful fabrics you have into a handmade quilt that you’ll
treasure for ages. Based on the book “Stash-Buster Quilts”
by Lynne Edwards. |
Irish Chain Quilt for Beginners - This
introductory class will teach basic quick and easy quiltmaking
techniques for beginners. Using rotary cutting and machine
sewing you will create a baby sized or lap sized “Irish
Chain Quilt”. This class will include cutting the fabric,
arranging the quilt squares, assembling the quilt, creating
the “quilt sandwich” and binding your quilt!
Learn quilting terms, tips, and how to make mitered corners
in a fun, relaxed environment! |
Fabric Postcards & Bowls –
- If you came to our show-n-tell event in March you
would certainly remember Moo’s beautiful fabric, patchwork
postcards and bowls. If you loved them here’s your chance
to make them! During this two week (2 sessions) class make as
many postcards as you can. It is a great way to use up some
scraps and mix and match some cool fabrics. |

or ornaments. Join us for a special class in cross-stitch and
make your own winter-themed project. We bet you’ll leave
wanting to make one for everyone on your list this year. No
previous cross-stitch experience necessary. |

Home Decorating 101 - Window Treatments
- This 4 week class will provide you with the skills
and confidence needed to construct ONE window treatment for
your home. You will review the correct way to measure your window
to ensure a proper fit. At the completion of this course you
will have a functioning treatment and instruction on how to
mount and install it in your home. During the series you are
welcome to use the shop machines, when available, to make another
one to compliment the one you’ll work on during class
time. |
Home Decorating 101 - Roman Shades This
four-week class will provide you with the skills and confidence
to construct a custom lined, flat roman shade to fit your home
windows. Students can meet a week earlier for an additional
fee to shop with the instructor to purchase materials. A class
materials list and directions on measuring will be provided
the week prior to class. Learn the correct way to measure your
window(s) to assure a proper and custom fit. Learn the correct

shade and instructions on how to mount and install your beautiful
Roman Shade at home. |
Home Decorating 101 - Swag and Cascade
Window Treatment This 4 week class will provide you
with the skills needed and confidence to construct a swag and
2 cascades for one window in your home. The first class will
be held at a local fabric store where you will receive assistance
in selecting fabric and notions for your panel. You will review
the correct way to measure your window to assure a proper
and custom fit. At the completion of this course you will have
a complete swag and cascade window treatment and instruction
on how to properly install your treatment in your home. While
registered for a class at Stitch House you are welcome to use
our sewing machines when no class in session to complete additional
window treatments. |
Simple Décor Pillows - This
2 week class will provide a quick introduction to sewing and
sewing techniques. Each participant will sew one or two decorative
pillows. The first class will introduce the participants to
the shop machines. This is a great way to start your sewing
journey! |
Easy Valance or Simple Design Curtain
- This 2 week class will provide a
quick introduction to sewing and sewing techniques. Each participant

Slipcovers are EASY! -
If you can make a purse, you can make a slip cover. Don't
let the size intimidate you! Covering a chair is very
simple and satisfying, and will help you learn the techniques
needed to tackle the sofa next! Students will be provided beforehand
with a template for measuring an armless chair.
Students will need to bring those measurements to the
first class along with their fabric and coordinating thread.
Patterns will be cut during the first class. |

Kid’s Sew - For kids only! Ages
8-12 are invited to learn to sew or refine the skills they learned
in one of our summer camps. This class will teach you the basics
and together we will create something small, manageable and

After this class they’ll have the skills to make great
gifts for all their friends. Kids will learn how to understand
and follow pattern instructions, cut out patterns, and use basic

Pre-Teens Sewing Ages
10-12 will make a simple tote and pajama pants in fabrics of
their choice. After this class they’ll have the skills
to make great gifts for all their friends. Participants
will learn how to understand and follow pattern instructions,
cut out patterns, and use basic machine stitches and hand sewing
techniques. The first class will introduce the participants
to the shop machines. |
Teen Fashion Design & Sewing - For
Teens Ages 16-18 Turn your fashion design dreams into
reality! Teens will put together a mini portfolio, design a
garment and sew it during this introductory series. Fully developed
portfolios and garments can be turned into admissions portfolios
for college applications! This class is designed for beginners
and the first class will allow participants time to use the
shop sewing machines. |
Kid’s Knit- For kids only! Ages
8-12 are invited to learn to knit or refine the skills they
learned in one of our summer camps. This class will teach you
the basics and together we will create a fantastic project –
of your choice. Not only will you leave with a finished project,
but you’ll have the motivation and the tools to keep Knitting!
After this class they’ll have the skills to make great
gifts for all their friends. Kids will learn how to understand
and follow pattern instructions, cast on, and bind-off. |
Teen Knit Night - Just for Teens!
If you have no knitting experience and your mom has
begged you to give something new a try – this is the class
for you. AND – your mom won’t be there! This class
is geared toward beginners and new knitters. |
Kids Craft One-Dayers Kids ages 6-7-8
are invited for an afternoon of crafting fun at the Stitch House.
Two projects each day, different projects each session. One-days
are cost $20 includes materials and snack. This is typically
offered only on mid-week school holidays. |
